The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and Green Transformation in the Turkish Steel Industry Conference

The "EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism: Green Transformation in the Turkish Steel Industry" conference, organized by the Turkish Steel Exporters' Association, will be held on December 10, 2024, at the Ömer Halisdemir Hall in TİM.

The transition period, which includes reporting obligations for the relevant sectors under the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), began on October 1, 2023, and the main implementation period will start in 2026. It is expected that financial obligations will arise based on embedded emissions related to products exported to the EU.

In this context, the Turkish Steel Exporters' Association aims to address the reporting obligations brought by CBAM in the steel industry and to find solutions to the implementation challenges encountered in this green transformation process. The conference will involve companies operating in the Turkish steel sector, academics, experts, relevant public institutions, consulting firms, and financial institutions. The discussions will cover topics such as green transformation-focused production, international trade, CBAM application details in the steel sector, access to finance, and government support.
